wait a second.. first of all, get a job hippie. second of all, is there ANY outside verification of this being the case? that's like me going online and saying, County Hospital is bad because they throw out babies that stay in the nursery too long.

That food isn't thrown away, it's composted. The flagship Whole Foods in Austin actually composts twice as much, by weight, as what's thrown away in the garbage. It's a valuable resource for organic fertilizer and completes the cycle of giving back what you take from the earth. If you're going to pick on a grocery chain, try picking on one that doesn't recycle, compost, pay for their employees full benefits and insurance, give back to their community with sizable charity donations, support local farming, or have corporate salary caps. I think you're choosing the wrong battle.
